​​​Ash Lane United Methodist Church is seeking a dedicated and talented Church Pianist to join our team at Ash Lane United Methodist Church. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in piano performance and a passion for enhancing worship experiences through music. The Church Pianist will play a crucial role in accompanying soloists and choirs, and contributing to the overall musical ministry of the church.

Key Responsibilities:

Worship Services: Play piano during regular worship services, including Sundays and special services (e.g., Easter, Christmas, weddings, and funerals). Provide musical accompaniment for hymns, choir anthems, and special musical presentations. 8:30 and 11:00 AM Worship Services. Sunday Morning need a 7:45am arrival thru 12:15 departure.

Rehearsals: Attend weekly rehearsals with the choir, soloists Wednesdays 6pm - 8: 30pm. Collaborate with the Music Director to prepare for upcoming services and events.

Music Selection: Assist in selecting appropriate music for services. We have 2 music groups Credo is a 12  person ensemble and the Adult choir has 25 regular singers.

Collaboration: Work closely with the Music Director, other musicians, and vocalists to ensure cohesive and high-quality musical presentations.

Preparation: Prepare and practice music in advance of services and events. Maintain a high standard of musical excellence.

Events: Provide accompaniment for church events, including but not limited to, weddings and funerals, as requested by the church office.

 

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a pianist, preferably with experience in a church or worship setting.

Proficiency in a wide range of musical styles.

Strong sight-reading skills and the ability to improvise or adapt music as needed.

A background in music education or a degree in music is preferred but not required.

Ability to work collaboratively with other musicians and leaders.

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

A personal commitment to the Christian faith and alignment with the church’s mission and values.

Compensation:

$15,000 Annually. 2 weeks annual vacation. Funerals/Weddings compensated separately over and above the salary.
